It’s only been a few days and it already feels like the WebStudio is part of the system! We’ve managed to get 5 shows off the ground and up onto the virtual world, but there is still so much to do! We’re going to settle the shows down into their own day-slots over the course of the next few weeks, and accommodate more updates, but we’ll keep you posted.
We’re still tweaking some of the newer videos based on the feedback we’ve been getting (through comments and email) – some hated the background music; others liked the text bits we’re adding; some wanted a more meaningful relationship with the videos (since embedding is still switched off), and we’re going to try and see how you react to these changes.
The average visitor to the CIO WebStudio is spending about 14 minutes (and Haris Nadeem confessed to spending 2 hours here every day!) – We got a lot of referrals from Jehan Ara’s blog, from StumbleUpon, through CIOPakistan‘s website and through my Twitter account – We quickly climbed up to a 112 fans on Facebook and we’re still getting a lot of unique page views and a bounce rate that is dropping. People tell me all these things are good indicators!
The launch started off with Hands On as the top show, followed by In The Line Of Wire, followed by The Blindspot. Things quickly turned around with the amount of viral marketing that Jehan Ara’s blog gets on a daily basis, and ITLOW quickly climbed to the top, leaving Hands On and Cool Tools For Fools to fight it out with one another. And then the Blooper Reel came and all chaos broke loose! In fact, at the time I was typing out this blog entry, the Bloopers were fighting it out with ITLOW as the most watched! Of course, the Blooper Reel has also managed to reveal a whole other side of me which Jehan Ara was able to expose through her blog, but all in good humor!
Like I said, there is so much more work to do. Stay tuned for fresh episodes of all the shows. Please keep your feedback coming or commenting so we know what else we need to do. Sure we have a lot of people here now, but that’s never the challenge – The biggest challenge will be how we can continue serving content to you which will keep you here.
Thank you for all the great support and (critical) feedback. The show MUST go on!

Wow, lots of good stuff here. Why are you hiding it all? I couldn’t find a link from CioPakistan.com to: http://webstudio.ciopakistan.com/
From CioPakistan.com only this link is available, which is a dead end:

The background music on some of the items makes it impossible for me to hear the people. It’s distracting and unprofessional. Please, if I want music, I can turn it on at my end.
Take a minute to test the audio quality before you start taping.
Why don’t you set up Twitter/Identi.ca/FriendFeed accounts to alert fans every time a new video is available?
Identi.ca is set up so that if you make a post there, it feeds to Twitter, which feeds to FriendFeed – so you only need to post to Identi.ca and everything else is taken care of (once you have accounts on the other two platforms).
Do you have YouTube a channel that I can subscribe to?
The subtitles summarizing key points are excellent, a real boost to retention.
What are your plans for monetization? I wouldn’t mind seeing ads, especially since I know it supports good work. Well done overall, best wishes.
I’m looking forward to seeing more diverse guests and topics. And some genuine clashes of ideas.
@u2bale – What a cool nick! Thanks for dropping by! Yes.. seems the Blooper Reel is a collection of many admirables! In your case, I’d imagine the saying to go like, “If we build it, U2 will come!”
Nice one! I think you can safely record “many” shows but the winner will always be the blooper reel. In any case, wanted to say that your work is admirable. The kinks may be ironed out as the days progress, “if you build it, they will come”!
