Broadband group eyes five million subscriber base in three years: The Broadband Stakeholders Group (BSG) in its maiden sitting set broadband subscriber base of 5 million as its target during the next three years. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had formulated a Broadband Stakeholders’ Group (BSG). The meeting was presided over by Dr Mohammed Yaseen, Chairman, PTA, and was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology, Universal Service Fund, Pakistan Software Houses Association, PTA, broadband service providers, cellular mobile operators, telecom vendors and academia.
Dr Mohammed Yaseen, Chairman, PTA said that the primary objective was to improve co-ordination among various industry players, provide them a common platform to share their ideas, and draft recommendations for improving proliferation of broadband services in the country.

Pakistan has the largest WiMAX network in the world: Pakistan has been recognized for the world’s largest WiMax Network. An article which appeared in the TMC-4G Revolution web portal mentioned that Wateen is expanding and reinforcing the capacity of its network. Richard Grigoris, author and former editor IP Communication Group added that WiMAX is a real technology and it works.
