There has been a great deal of controversy about the revamp/re-creation of Pakistan’s IT Policy in the past several months. Jehan Ara, President of P@SHA, speaks with IT Law expert, Zahid Jamil who explains the context of the problem. It’s interesting that Barrister Zahid Jamil talks about the issues with the process of the formulation of the policy which then creates problems in the policy itself.
You will be able to better understand the whole background of the situation if you conduct a cursory search online, but this is an interesting discussion about how policies are made and the fact that we all need to give more time and effort towards ensuring the policies, which will govern us for the next several decades, have the relevant attention it deserves.
Please leave your comments and feedback here. CIO Pakistan will comprise the feedback and add it to the documentation in the CIO Pakistan Year Ahead ’09 Conference taking place in march 2009. We will be addressing some of these issues in the conference there.

Good policies, good laws, competent enforcement and a fair, efficient judiciary will make Pakistan a more attractive IT destination, better able to deploy IT technologies domestically and better able to compete globally.
The points raised in this video on the need for the protection of private information are important to incorporate. This will help not only the IT industry become stronger, but general industry too.
This video contains an excellent discussion of vital importance to everyone. Well done!
