1 – Today in 1797; Nathaniel Briggs patents a washing machine.
2 – Heinrich Wilhelm Matthäus Olbers discovers 2 Pallas, the second asteroid known to man on this day in 1802.
3 – This day in 1899 William Fleming received a patent for a player piano using electricity.
4 - Henri Fabre on 28th, March, 1910 becomes the first person to fly a seaplane, the Fabre Hydravion, after taking off from a water runway near Martigues, France.
5 – Luxtera Incorporation has announced a new type of silicon chip which could blend the low-cost manufacturing prowess of the semiconductor with laser optical networking.
