Today is 06th April, 09 and here’s what happened today in tech…

1 – 1889 George Eastman placed Kodak Camera on sale for 1st time.

BEFORE THIS INVENTION, PHOTOGRAPHERS TRAVELLED AROUND WITH THE ENTIRE STUDIO PACKED!!

2 – 1938 Fiddling around in the lab one day, Roy Plunkett accidentally discovered polytetrafluoroethylene (WHAT A TONGUE TWISTER!!), soon to be known as Teflon, a slippery substance that will have practical applications in everything from non-stick cookware to a presidential nickname. Plunkett, a chemist at DuPont’s Jackson research lab in New Jersey, made his discovery in the time-honored scientific way: as the result of a mistake, and with an assistant’s help.

3 – 1965 Intelsat 1, also called Early Bird, was the world’s first commercial communications satellite to be launched. It provided the first scheduled transoceanic TV service and was operational for 3.5 years.

4 -1973 Pioneer 11 launched toward Jupiter and Saturn.  It was the first spacecraft to fly past Saturn. Like its sister probe, Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11 flew past Jupiter, becoming the second spacecraft to do so.
