Today is 18th April, 09 and here’s what happened today in tech…
1 – 1868 C H F Peters discovers asteroid #98 lanthe.
2 - 1889 In Germany First distant earthquake was recorded. Ernst von Rebeur-Paschwitz made the first known recordings of a distant earthquake 7+ quake near east coast of Honshu, Japan. Teleseism was first identified on a seismogram. The instruments were horizontal pendulums, designed by Ernst von Rebeur-Paschwitz to measure slight changes in the direction of the vertical. The earthquake had been felt in Japan about an hour before it was recorded in Germany.
3 - 1910 Walter R. Brookins made the first airplane flight at night.
4 – 1911 J Helffrich discovers asteroid #713 Luscinia.
5 – 1915 M Wolf discovers asteroids #806 Gyldenia & #807 Ceraskia.
6 – 1916 In the Fox Islands, an area in Alaska recorded an earthquake of 7.4, as one of the largest earthquakes in the United States.
