Microsoft, Aga Khan Foundation to establish technology centres: The Microsoft and the Aga Khan Foundation in Pakistan have inked an agreement to establish the country’s first pilot Community Technology Learning Centres in the remote northern areas of Gilgit and Hunza. A statement said that by expanding ICT access and training resources to those rural areas, those centres would offer local residents new social and economic opportunities. It said that joined at the signing ceremony were Al-Nashir Jamal, CEO of the Aga Khan Foundation in Pakistan, Kamal Ahmed, Country General Manager of Microsoft Pakistan.
PTA directs Internet Service Providers to Check Illegal Call Termination: PTA has directed all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to ensure that their networks are not used for illegal call/voice termination and such cases of grey telephony are brought into the notice of PTA immediately. These directions were issued in a meeting on the issue of Grey Traffic held at PTA Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Chairman PTA, Dr.Mohammed Yaseen. Members and senior officers of the Authority were also present in the meeting. It was decided that all ISPs will remain vigilant and ensure that their networks are not used for voice termination and they also take action against grey users.
Intel Channel Conference held in Lahore and Islamabad: Intel Pakistan Corporation recently held the Intel Channel Conference in Lahore and Islamabad. This, twice a year event, is a face-to-face forum and training program for channel members in Pakistan. Intel Channel Conference provides a central forum to launch products and programs, promote key Intel initiatives, and equip channel customers with the tools they need to embrace and deliver new and emerging technologies.
