We’ve met Mehdi and Shahzad from Tohfay earlier, but today we decided to we’d feature the women that run the organization. Safia Rafi, COO and Chief Creative Officer, Dr. Muniza Shah, stopped by the WebStudio to speak with Jehan Ara, President of P@SHA about the inner workings of a DotCom that works!

I believe http://itohfay.com is much better site and are more reliable.
Ya i also had a personal experience with tohfay.com, well that’s another story that they delayed my order after one day but in compensation to that they also gave chocolates. Now isn’t that a nice gesture, tohfay is one of its kind in Pakistan. Great customer service
Thank you guys for the feedback. Nadeem, Tohfay is making money (like all businesses – it has taken its course). 2008 closed with yearly revenues of $117,500. To give you an idea, 2006 closed at $34,900. So we are excited with the result and have a projection of $175,000 for 2009.
Asif, Pakistan has little infrastructure at the moment, but it is getting there. Companies like Raseen Technologies and banks such as UBL are enabling customers to shop with convenience through Netbanking. Mobilink has a vision also with its GENIE and MMO initiative. To share with you, we are already getting calls for inquiries for products and prices, which is telling us – hey people are out there “Googling” and coming to our website for answers. Convenience is in!
Yes, we are excited. We have a vision. And the best part of it is – we are loving providing the services with Tohfay, MIP and Doodhpatti because people at the receiving end have a need for it. Thank you Furgan for sharing your Tohfay experience! Please do visit the site http://www.tohfay.com.
I have personal experience with TOHFAY.com. They have pretty satisfying customer support service. They delivered my gift on time. They even put on customer support calls to ask whether the gift is received or not.
They are using UBL Net Banking for money transfer, so quick and easy. I loved their service and i am definitely going to avail it again.
Well you have to start from somewhere. I have seen their site, they have satisfied customers out there. So it means they are doing something different. Despite the fact that e-commerce is not so popular right now but soon people will be purchasing gifts online so mark this cause this might help you out in future

Why eCommerce hasn’t taken off so far in Pakistan, to me the most basic reason is that most Pakintani consumers still don’t see enough value proposition in shopping online. They can’t be blamed because over the past few years, they have heard a lot of horror stories about not receiving the right products, not receiving products in time.
But still hopes are alive & surely this business will be on fast track soon in Pakistan because I believe lots of trusted people & companies are working on the same.
Best of Luck Tohfay.com
Keeping the payment gateway issue aside (i am sure once a complete solution is here it will help e-commerce a lot ) there is a lot of potential that can be utilized. There are few things that really matter a lot
- Building the trust factor.
- Building up right kid of community.
- Coming up with the right kind of business idea.
These are the biggest challenges an e-commerce site has to face to generate good business
E-commerce most definitly has scope in Pakistan. Particularly in the mobile space.
Let us get over with the farce of e-commerce in Pakistan
Pakistan has no Payment gateway.
So unless you have a point of contact in US who help you with the payment gateway.
Till we accept this reality E-commerce will remain dead in Pakistan. Once we accept this then we can start to fix it.
