Sorry if I have touched any raw nerves. I never expected to elicit this strong a reaction. I will be more careful next time.
@Nadeem Ahsan, Strange that you choose to make the comment on Dr. Qasim Shaikh’s interview – someone who has nothing to do with either Badar or Umar… My goodness – for someone who doesn’t have much of an opinion, you sure are trigger happy with your commenting, albeit in the wrong posts.
As far as we are concerned, we would like to see more of everyone who does something and lesser of those people who talk and … talk some more. That’s not a suggestion. Consider it a mandate, an agenda and a lifestyle. So yes, we’d ideally like to see less of Nadeem Ahsans, but then we don’t see you at all.. which, judging by the track record of your comments, if a good thing.
One more suggestion for what it is worth – We would like to see more Umar Saifs than the Badar Khushnoods of the world.
@Nadeem the audience does have a say and we appreciate all feedback. If you notice, the rest of the audience appreciate the conversational nature of the show. They also like the selection of “normal” people who have achieved great things or on the way to achieving great things.Thank you for sharing your viewpoint. We will continue to improve the show and will try and incorporate as many suggestions as possible or feasible without changing the character of ITLoW.
I thought we as the audience would also have a say in concept development of new media shows in this age of co-creation. Perhaps not. May be what the audience have to say does not matter much with today’s powerful media. I come from a world where Audience is King!
Of course, it is your show. I just wanted to share how I felt. That is all. Nothing more.
Rabia – That was a good repartee!
[...] The National ICT R&D Fund has the vision “to transform Pakistan’s economy into a knowledge based economy by promoting efficient, sustainable and effective ICT initiatives through synergic development of industrial and academic resources,” said the CEO of the Fund Dr. Qasim Sheikh in an interview with me on ITLoW. [...]
@Sohaib I agree that the National ICT R&D Fund should continue to fund innovation but in addition I do agree that the SBIR model in the US is something that would really help young & aspiring entrepreneurs with good ideas. Thanks for your comment.
@Nadeem Ahsan Perhaps you are right and “professional” anchors would handle the interviews much better. I don’t want to cut my guests short. My purpose and CIO’s in starting this show was to give people a chance to have their say. There are enough traditional channels with the normal way of doing things. I want this to be a conversation and I don’t really mind if they pose questions to me. So please don’t be upset on my behalf. I love what I do and my guests make my job so much of a pleasure.
I agree. I think there is WAYYYY too much freewheeling when it comes to leaving comments. The admin or moderator really needs to put his or her foot down and simply delete such comments. Yes, Mr. Ahsan! I agree 100%. I also think there should be an internet regulation for people who only cue videos pages to see where the interviewer and subject swap places for 1 minute of an hour long discussion. Of course! I agree!!! Am all for it!
Good interview! As a co-PI on one of their grants, I think the Fund is definitely doing a good job
… I hope this effort continues and the government doesn’t change its mind… because real impact can only be seen some years down to road.
On the question of supporting industry through public money, the US SBIR and STTR model (http://www.sbir.gov/) has been a huge success. It encourages innovation by providing seed funding to startups. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Business_Innovation_Research). I hope either the ICTR&D Fund or some other government agency can start such an initiative.
Jehan – Please put your foot down when the interviewee becomes the interviewer. Dr Shaikh should know that he is the one being interviewed, not the other way around.
The reason people start questions to Jehan is because she allows them too much leeway to ramble on the on… They begin to take advantage of the freewheeling unending time for free speech.
Questions have to be crisp. Answers have to be crisp. They should be cut short when they ramble on and on.
Jehan you need to own them, not the other way around.
Excellent Interview! Keep up the great work.
