@Ahmed Tamjid Aijazi, Should we be knowing what you mean?
Hire an experienced producer for your web studio! You know what I mean …
Very good interview but hows good if you focus on the sound quality of the video my radio can perform better than this

@Shakir Husain, Thanks for well, setting the record straight, Shakir. I think Mr. Ahsan is a little confused in what he was supposed to respond to considering on several previous occasions, we have requested him to stick to the norms of public forums.. I’m glad, however, you weren’t wearing funny shoes, else that MIGHT have started a whole new war on terror here…
Thanks for coming by and for taking the time to share your thoughts.
@Nadeem Ahsan, I find it difficult to digest that someone insists on paying attention to ONLY the negative and then bringing them forward. Forget anchors and enemies that hinder our progress as a nation when we have you to drive such a vital and critical point home.
Short of saying, “how stupid are you??” if Shakir pokes fun at Seths for 2 minutes and talks progress in the remaining 50 minutes, is a comment on his seth-orientation REALLY worth it? Unbelievable. Please take care to be very careful in how you term “our people”… you are obviously not part of the same people who strive to make things happen.
You have submitted every one of your comments to criticize personal character of people rather than on what the business is doing right or wrong. A pity. What a waste of space.
Dear Mr. Ahsan,
I wanted to to comment on what you have written here. My interview with Jehan was/is based on 9 years of doing business in Pakistan. My disparaging remarks were not meant to be offensive rather reflected my experiences which is the point of this interview series. You commented in your earlier post that my comments were an exercise in “self flagellation” given that i am part of the “seth” community. I beg to differ. “seths” are not entrepreneurs rather they are a breed which has survived and prospered over the last 60 years not because of their competence or acumen but their ability to get the government to give them subsidies, tax refunds, and sweetheart concessions. Most seths have not worked an honest days’ wages in their lives. Our economic system is primarily one of rent seeking which is why we are where we are. Unless we can acknowledge these problems we cannot overcome them. My views are not a secret given that I written a rather irreverent column for an english language daily every week.
Sincerely,
Shakir
In any case,it is true that the guest did make some bad disparaging remarks about Pakistani bankers, name called Pakistani industrialists, belittled the banking community saying they don’t understand technology and above all, made some really objectionable remarks about the Pakistani Government. At one point, the guest referred to our invaluable industrialist community as ‘seth’ or something to that effect forgetting that Mr Hussein is part of the same community. Why does he have to indulge in such self flagellation on our own people? It hurt a lot. We should not be pointing the dagger at our own people.
Certainly this is not the way to make friends in the larger tech ecosystem.
Sometimes I feel it is the rather casual atmosphere which encourages guests to behave and talk loosely. People have a right to express their views, but also have the responsibility to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner by setting an example.
Their is a certain decorum and reverence, mutual respect and dignity in a conversation that was somehow missing. May be it is me and my old fashioned thinking.
@Nadeem sahab – So if we had a painted bride there who was very conscious of the camera, yet said nothing, that would be okay? We prefer Chai with a Friend as opposed to constipated discomfort. Jehan Ara wasn’t having a hard time dealing with Shakir, but then perhaps you were there and had an insight into the foundations for her pained expressions – your concern is greatly appreciated! I don’t know about guiding guests, but I think we’ve certainly drawn out some rules of engagement for public commenting and what should and shouldn’t be commented on.
The guest alluded to one, personal experience (and I think he even says, “I won’t name the bank”) – How would you suggest he respond to a question that Jehan Ara asked him? “No – all’s great!” – How fake would you like these people to be? He is an entrepreneur and has been running a successful business in Pakistan since many years – he’s justified to talk about a few of his downtimes – he’s earned that. Since you expressed the insight into Jehan Ara’s expression, you may wish to watch the episode again and peer deeper into Shakir’s soul..
You are mistaken Mr. Ahsan. Remember the show is not live so we could have edited out anything we were not comfortable with. The views expressed in the show are those of the guest and I am sure CIO WebStudio has a disclaimer to that effect. Our intent in doing these shows is to give people a voice. Shakir, no doubt, has some strong views and he certainly has a right to express them. We do in fact encourage our guests to feel that they are chatting with a friend rather than appearing in a formal interview. Thanks for your concern though. I was in no way embarrassed.
The interview went well. But, towards the end it just got totally out of control. Clearly, the guest was having a ball ridiculing Pakistan’s Bankers and incumbent capitalists. I could see that Jehan was having a hard time dealing with this, as she does not venture into such uncharted waters ever. He is quite content with doing happy talk and never likes to deal with stark realities of the world. Mr Hussain on the other hand perhaps for a moment forgetting that he was in front of a camera thought he was having chai with a friend in a cafeteria and was more than casual.
Note for Rabia – Please provide a brief to your guest on appropriate conversation and dos/don’ts so they know what to say and how to say it. Above all not to embarass Jehan.
Very Candid views. Is it politically correct to say these things to someone like Jehan?
Shakir, please don’t say such things about Pakistan and our leaders.
For a change, it is refreshing to see a services company. There were too many product companies that were being covered.
Another awesome interview! Shakir’s a great guest – you must call him again for a follow up interview. And the “dinosaurs” really do need to get moving
Enjoyed the talk.
