Dr. Ahmed Sidky is one of those really FUN interviews we’ve had on In The Line of Wire here at the CIO WebStudio. The Vice President of Service Delivery at Ten Pearls, Dr. Sidky answers President P@SHA Jehan Ara’s tough, well placed questions on Agile Development and the desperate need to shift mindset. Perhaps organizations in Pakistan need to go down this path to becoming more flexible, robust and, as Dr. Sidky explains, nimble.

Great points. If a person who can not drive, drives a Mercedes CLK-GTR and rams it in a tree, you shouldn’t blame the car you should blame the driver driving it. Same applies to agile practices, if you don’t apply them right and your project fails, don’t blame agile for it, blame yourself for not implementing it right.
Great work Dr. Sidky!

Ahsen and the others – Like Jehan Ara said, if there is enough interest, the workshop can probably be arranged… You can also post your questions here for Dr. Sidky and we can request him to respond to some shorter queries here… Do share the interview with others who you think will benefit.. Many thanks!
Loved this guy’s attitude towards management of human resources. I now realize that as long as we’ll keep calling people resources, we’ll keep treating them as resources (and not human beings).
This interview cleared a lot of confusions that I had, but I still have a lot of questions to ask. Perhaps a 2 to 3 day workshop would be helpful.

Excellent questions Jehan! This was definitely a treat to watch, because there were some brilliant questions asked and Dr. Sidky’s responses were spot on each time.
There are so many misconceptions about Agile and we need workshops here in Pakistan to remove all myths.
But I think workshops alone wouldn’t be enough, we also need Agile coaches.
Thanks.

It was a very informative discussion,It really helped me to understand the orgin and history of Agile Concept.
I consider it as the start of the new era for IT Service Providers and software companies.
the only Negative point i found in this discussion was the video editing as both of the Chroma background and the sound were not that poessional.

I really enjoyed the interview. It seems that the Agile movement is bringing back the software development community to the basics, throwing back the common-sense into our processes.
I really hope that Agile in Pakistan will take off after this interview. From experience, moving an organization to agile requires guidance and hard works.
I believe providing the industry with such material will really help take software development in Pakistan to even higher grounds.
Thanks,

@Ali Glad you liked the discussion. There is no reason we can’t arrange a workshop if there is enough demand for it.
I like how he addresses the issues that we face while trying to follow agile. Never thought about the mindset and organizational structure changes. Wish we could arrange for a workshop with someone like him.
