PTA, FIA raid illegal gateway exchange
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have recently raided an illegal gateway exchange that was installed in a flat in F-10, Islamabad. As a result four persons have been arrested. The raid was conducted on the basis of information obtained through PTA’s facility. Chairman PTA, Dr Mohammad Yaseen appreciated the joint efforts of PTA and FIA teams and warned all those involved in the illegal telecom business to stop their activities.
’2010 is a year of bright prospects for IT’
The Chairman Task Force on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Salim Ghauri, while talking to a delegation of IT professionals, academicians and students, has stated that The year 2010 is a year of bright prospects for Information Technology (IT) sector of Pakistan, as both the US and Chinese companies are planning to invest heavily on purchase of hardware and software from across the globe. He added that only few Pakistani companies have experienced the Chinese market potential so other companies should also make efforts to tap this opportunity. He was foreseeing phenomenal growth in demand for human resource in IT sector of Pakistan during 2010, both on local and international front. According to him, the last two quarters of 2009 were growth-oriented in IT industry of Pakistan.
KSE to consolidate KATS on Oracle technology
The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) is set to consolidate its trading system (KATS) on Oracle technology, like the other markets of the world. Sources have told that the IT systems of successful markets are being monitored for this purpose. The Oracle technology, basically, paces up speed of the business processes.
