Intel hosts educational award
Intel Education Initiative and Federal Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan, jointly held an award ceremony in recognition of schools and teachers using technology to enhance learning. On the occasion, Aslam Kamboh, Secretary Education said “Teachers play a significant and valuable role in our society and the Intel Education Awards are held with this in mind.”
SBP starts publishing electronic bond trading data
The State Bank of Pakistan has started to publish daily reports on its website regarding daily trading volumes and rates of Government Securities which are traded on Electronic Bond Trading Platform. According to a Circular (FSCD Circular Letter No.1) issued on Thursday, the State Bank has started publishing the following two reports on daily basis through its website on Economic Data page under section Monetary Data
Biomass can produce cheap power, say experts
The secretary of environment and alternative energy, Mir Hussain Ali, has stressed, in a seminar, on the need for utilizing billions of tons of biomass produced in the country. The workshop on “Agricultural biomass utilization as energy/material source” was organized by the Institute of Environment Engineering and Management of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. He said Pakistan needs alternative energy sources since it is facing huge energy crises. Moreover, there are several sources available like solar, thermal and wind energy but only model projects have been developed. However, their immediate implementation can help in dealing with the crises. He added that about 20 international companies are ready to invest in Pakistan to use wind energy to cope with the energy crises, out of which 1 has already started the project.
