PTCL opens Pakistan’s largest data centre: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has opened the largest data centre of the country in Karachi.
This data centre is engineered using the rigid specifications consistent with international standards and data centre certification bodies and is enabled with technologies that proactively manage an enterprise mission-critical applications for predictable and continuous performance, says a press release.
The data centre is protected from intrusion and failure with multi-layered security, fail-safe redundancy, diversity measures and rapid response recovery measures. Talking about the data centre, PTCL Senior Executive Vice President South Karachi, Abdullah Yousaf said that PTCL’s investment in these types of services underscores its commitment to the rapidly expanding ICT sector in Pakistan and highlights the rapidly growing demand in this market who turn to PTCL for integrated hosting and network solutions, allowing them to focus on their core business.
PTCL is making these investments on behalf of the business community of Pakistan, so that the customers can focus their resources on their core businesses, entrusting the PTCL to provide what we do best – ICT.
Senior Executive Vice President, Commercial, Naveed Saeed while highlighting the importance of data centre stated that the aim is to provide business enterprises in Pakistan a reliable, responsive and resilient infrastructure to suit the their needs.
Japan extends $5.4m for solar energy project in Pakistan: The Japanese government extended a grant of Yen 480,000,000 (US$ 5.4 million) to Pakistan for ?Introduction of Clean Energy by Solar Electricity Generation System? programme.
An agreement to this effect was signed here on Thursday by Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, Sibtain Fazal Halim and Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan, Chihiro Atsumi on behalf of their respective governments.
Among others, Head of Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA), also witnessed the signing ceremony.
Under the Clean Energy Initiative, two on-grid solar power generation systems (100 KW each) will be installed under grant-aid through JICA, one at Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and other at roof of Planning Commission’s building.
The project will promote clean energy utilization and will help achieve emission reduction by installing the new system that would be connected to the national grid.
