Officially launched on April 14th this year MassChallenge is touted to be the world’s largest start-up competition. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the vision of the competition is to kick-start and inspire a renaissance and its mission is to facilitate and promote innovation and collaboration.
Anyone all over the world can register team members and enter their idea. All submissions are due by June 11th with early bird discounts by midnight June 4th. You can even get your entry for free with endorsement tickets that you can find from your entrepreneurial echo system. All you need is a two page executive summary and an optional video pitch!
What you get out of this? After two rounds of evaluation – the first one online and the second one in-person the top one hundred team from all over the world will be selected and get free office space, mentoring and other resources including marketing legal help and connection to potential customers. From among the top 100 team after many months of working through the process the top 15-20 teams will eventually be announced and they will each win USD50-100K as prize money with no strings attached!
“I think this is a tremendous opportunity for budding entrepreneurs in Pakistan”, say Raza Shaikh who is helping as a mentor and judge in the competition. “Innovation can come from anywhere and this competition provides and excellent catalyst to get your idea with the right ingredients” he adds.

Hello Raza,
Thanks for the information. To be honest, this looks very serious I will have to spend a lot of time if I ever get through to possibly next round etc or win (yes i aim high
) and may not be able to continue with my full time job! – What are your thoughts?
Anyway, I have a document pretty much ready explaining the project so I might just submit it and see how it goes on
Thanks,
Ali
Hello,
First of all, its a great opportunity for young and upcoming entrepreneurs and such activities should also be arrange within Pakistan. We have great talent here.
Secondly, I want to ask some questions here
1. If someone has just launched a startup and he/she has not yet received any founding, can he/she can participate? It is stated in the Competition Rules that
“Entries must be a startup that has received less than $500,000 in funding from outside sources during the past 18 months.”
2. It is stated clearly in the Competition Rule that
“Entrants must be (i) a U.S. citizen, (ii) a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., (iii) a temporary resident, asylee, refugee of the U.S., or have a lawfully issued work authorization card permitting unrestricted employment in the U.S., or (iv) be in the United States under a valid and current visa issued by the United States government which does not prohibit receiving a cash prize.”
Can non-usa resident apply for this Competition?
3. National level services/product can be submitted i this competition From national level I mean, something made exclusively for specific country or region?
Kind Regards,
Muhammad Tariq Khan
Ali, Certainly you can enter the competition if you are at the early stages. See http://www.masschallenge.org/competition/faq and the question about ‘eligibility requirements’ and you are very likely to be in the stage where you can enter the idea.
Good luck.
-Raza
Hello,
Is it possible for someone who is almost almost on the verge of launching a startup to apply @ MassChallenge?
