Proximate Global, a US-based company head by Pakistanis, launched their proximity-based social networking app called Face2Face. A platform-agnostic application that will let your friends (and friends of friends) know when you are within close proximity to them without revealing your precise location. Since the app works across platforms and social networks, you can interact with your existing contacts on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn, without having to either create a new account or join a new service. Pretty amazing when you visit the website and actually use the app!

Hameed Khan, CEO of Proximate Global interacted with the press and media and officially announced the launch of the app. Click here to visit the website and download the appropriate app version depending on the OS on your phone. The service, of course, is free and standard GPRS data rates do apply.

Watch out for an exclusive interview with Hameed later at the CIO WebStudio along with a handson review of the app!
